Elk NetworkVolunteers Clean Up Kansas Elk Country

Conservation | October 9, 2018

Kansas is known for many different things ranging from prairies of waving wheat to the legendary movie The Wizard of Oz.

What is not well-known about Kansas is it is also home to a wild, free-ranging elk herd. And a group of Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation volunteers gathered near Milford Lake in the northeast part of the state to make things better for elk.  They rolled up their sleeves and worked together to remove about 1,700-feet of old fencing.

After the work was done, they had burgers for lunch and then went to see if they could see the elk for themselves.
