Tangled Bull Elk Put Down in Montana

Wildlife officials in Montana put down two bull elk that were tangled in bailing twine, each other and a tree. When eventually found, both animals were too weak to be tranquilized.

“The message is pick up all your baling twine,” Bob Gibson, FWP information and education manager, told KTVQ-TV. “But we aren’t sure where it got picked up. The rancher said, ‘I pick up my baling twine. I don’t leave it lying around.’ And this was obviously a great big ball of it someplace.”

Meat from the two animals went to a meat locker which eventually distributed it to local veterans.
