General | October 21, 2019

Though not a done deal, the Missouri Department of Conservation laid out direction for its first-ever managed elk hunt that may take place in 2020.

According to details reported in the Springfield News-Leader, the hunt would only be open to Missouri residents with 5-10 available permits. Applicants would be required to pay a $10 fee and if drawn, would pay $50 for a permit.

The hunt would be divided up into a nine-day archery season in October followed by a nine-day rifle season in December.

The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation assisted with the successful restoration of elk onto their historic Missouri range in 2011.
