In Episode #8 of E-Scouting for elk, Randy Newberg talks about the 5 different periods during which we hunt elk. Those seasons are Early Season, Pre Rut, Peak Rut, Post Rut, and Late Season
Randy discusses when these seasons occur on the human monthly calendar. Randy also explains what the elk has for primary and secondary needs for each of those seasons. Knowing what the needs are in the season you are hunting is crucial for finding elk.
In the prior video we discussed the four primary needs. Now, with these seasonal periods explained, you should understand what need the elk have in each season, which determines where you will find elk in that season.
The goal of this series is to allow you to scout from home, via computer, and build a very solid hunting plan before you even head to the field. Whether you live ten miles or two days from your unit, this video series will help you plan your hunt, allowing you to be more efficient and more effective.
