In Episode #7 of E-Scouting for elk, Randy Newberg talks about the needs elk have. Elk have 4 primary needs. They have 3 permanent needs; food, water and sanctuary, and 1 seasonal need; breeding.
Elk move across the landscape for the purpose of satisfying the primary need they have. Knowing the primary need at the time you are hunting them will help you find where the elk are located.
To tag your elk you must find an elk. To find an elk you must go where they can satisfy their needs.
The goal of this series is to allow you to scout from home, via computer, and build a very solid hunting plan before you even head to the field. Whether you live ten miles or two days from your unit, this video series will help you plan your hunt, allowing you to be more efficient and more effective.
