In this episode, Part 6, of E-Scouting for elk, Randy Newberg talks about using boundaries as a form of sanctuary. We’ve already covered sanctuaries as a place elk use for security and survival. Boundaries are a common sanctuary caused by the discomfort hunters feel when hunting boundaries.
Unlike traditional sanctuaries where distance and topography deter hunters, boundaries are much easier to hunt physically, just requiring the use of the onX system to navigate and understand where you are at and where the elk are at. The onX system is critical for identifying these boundaries.
The goal of this series is to allow you to scout from home, via computer, and build a very solid hunting plan before you even head to the field. Whether you live ten miles or two days from your unit, this video series will help you plan your hunt, allowing you to be more efficient and more effective.
