Elk NetworkColorado Commission Unanimously Denies Bobcat Hunting/Trapping Petition

The Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission unanimously denied a petition by animal rights groups that would ban the hunting and trapping of bobcats.

“It’s well regulated, every single bobcat taken off of the landscape has to be personally inspected and sealed by one of our officers in the field,” Lauren Truitt, Colorado Parks and Wildlife spokesperson, told KKCO-TV.

Wildlife agencies use hunting and trapping as key tools in wildlife management. The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation supports the management of predators and prey alike in sustaining the populations of all wildlife.

Upset with the ruling, opponents say they will file a lawsuit.
