Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks game wardens are investigating the poaching of a bull elk that someone shot and killed south of Columbia Falls between Montana Highway 206 and the Flathead River.

The animal turned up dead in a field northwest of Sullivan Crossroad and Middle Road. Authorities believe it happened the night of November 18 or the morning of November 19.
