Elk NetworkBiologists, Engineers Examine Wildlife and Highways

General | February 26, 2019

The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and other partners helped organize a three-day workshop that focused on safety and conservation concerns of ungulates and highways.

According to information presented at the gathering, wildlife and transportation experts talked in depth about wildlife migration patterns, highway planning, human and wildlife safety, and economic impacts of vehicle-wildlife collisions.

Funding provided by Secretary Order 3362 allows biologists to use GPS collars and other means to learn more about wildlife movement, especially where migration corridors and highways cross paths.

The conference took place January 29-31, 2019, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
