Elk NetworkBadger Caches Deer

General | February 8, 2019

Measuring about 20-34 inches in length and weighing between 10-24 pounds, the badger is not one of the largest predators on the landscape but it certainly is one of the most fierce. Its diet usually includes mice, gophers and other small burrowing animals or even birds and snakes.

However, a game warden in Wyoming recently came across quite a sight. He discovered a deer cache. That’s right, a badger near Lusk in the eastern part of the state, tried to bury a mule deer in a cache measuring some 10 feet across in size.

Like mountain lions and bears, badgers will try to hide their food from other animals to make it last longer.
